Anniversary Gift

For my anniversary gift this year Eric decided to help do something about the monster "to read" pile on my nightstand. He installed some floating shelves for me, something I have wanted for ages, and it not only gave me a place for all my books but also really inspired me to clear the rest of the clutter on my nightstand.

I love a man that can build me bookshelves, happy anniversary honey :-)

Print Exchange

This fall I took part in a print exchange put on by the Sketchbook Project and I recently received my prints from the exchange in the mail! I was wanting to challenge myself with something creative and this was a great exercise to wake up my artistic side. The sketchbook organizes some really interesting art projects so if you've never heard of them check them out. For this particular project I had to produce an edition of 11 prints with the theme "greetings from a distant land. I then sent the prints in to the nice folks at the sketchbook project and about a month later I received 10 prints from different artists all over the world! The sketchbook project kept one of my prints for their collection and sent the rest out to other artists. It was so exciting to get a collection of art in the mail, you can see the print I made at the top of this post and the prints I received are bellow.

Doing this project around Echo prompted her to do an art exchange with other kids around the country which was also really cool to see. I love the prints I received and I want to look in to getting them framed and hung somewhere in the house. What a cool way to score some original artwork!

October Photos

Whew! what a busy month October was for us! We had tons of fun outings with friends and family. There is so much to do this time of year and we really made the most of things. Looking forward to a little getaway this weekend to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and maybe relax a bit :-) Here are some photos of what's been keeping us busy.

We went to the Sunday in the park festival at Oakland cemetery and had a great time with the bubble man.

The kids have been doing tons of art. I love it when they collaborate!

We've had plenty of outside time and gardening projects too.

Plus lots of baking of course! Clover is starting to get in on the action too and Echo has really become a great help to me in the kitchen.

We visited the zoo a few times and got to check out the new reptile house.

We also visited the botanical gardens for some fall fun.

We played around the house a lot too.

And visited a corn maze!

And of course there was Halloween! We had so much fun taking the girls trick or treating!
